Simple Web Hosting Design Tips

Latest News

It's common knowledge that web hosting design is simply an extension of a person's artistic skills and creativity, which means it's perfectly understandable that not every web master has a good grasp of web hosting design, by virtue of not everybody having innate artistic talent. However, lacking in the artistic and creativity department does not necessarily exclude you from having a great website design. There are tried and tested practices that will help you make the most out of your layout and design, artistic skill be damned. These include:

Start From Somewhere - Tweak a Template

If you don't have the technical skill to churn out a good looking layout from scratch, that's perfectly fine. Lots of other people have already done your work for you, via ready to use templates. You can actually use one of these templates right out of the box and that will be the end of that, but you know the proverb about teaching a man how to fish - so use that template at first and start tweaking elements from time to time. This will let you get a feel for how to do things and eventually, you'll learn enough to do everything on your own.

Say No to Clutter

It's very easy to fall in love with visual elements these days, especially since broadband internet has already made it possible to overload people with images and videos. However, when it comes to website design, you should keep in mind that the purpose of a website is to deliver content, not be the content. Don't flood your visitors with visual elements to the point that their brains stop processing information (the human brain has a tendency to do this when provided with too many options.)

Use Color Wisely

You need to ensure that the color scheme you are using matches the purpose of your site, and while learning what specific colors project may seem daunting at first, you just need to remember that a business website should use a neutral color palette, as it projects an elegant and modern appearance. It's the one thing you need to avoid breaking. Additionally, neutral color palettes are easy on the eyes, and can help you guide people's eyes towards content via the use of small dashes of non neutral color (particularly in headlines).

Use Fonts that are Widely Available and Legible Whether on a Small Screen or a Big Screen

There are actually two things you need to remember about fonts. They're usually client side, so if you use a font that isn't widely available, chances are visitors will see generic looking fonts on their end (as their system replaces the missing font with whatever default they have set), thereby ruining your intended look, especially if you built the layout around said font. Additionally, you should keep in mind that not everybody browses the website on a desktop PC, so you need to ensure that text is legible and decent-looking even on the small screens afforded to smartphones and tablets.
